Richa Gangopadhyay made her debut in Telugu films through Sekhar kammula’s leader.. Having established her market across the South Indian film industry, she has started acting in her mother tongue Bengali.

She earned a good name in South Indian language films and for now has avoided signing any new projects due to this Bengali movie. When enquired about this, she has mentioned that she prefers to act in the films that are made in her mother tongue language. Apart from that she does not want to act in other language films without understanding them. Richa is currently acting in a Bengali film titled Singa which is the remake of the Tamil film Singam.
